This is a one day introduction to paragliding, giving you a flavour of what it's all about. In this first day, we teach you parachute landing falls (PLFs) and introduce you to the equipment, pre-flight checks, and accessing the site and weather conditions.
You'll get to try your first launches, initially on the flat or down a gentle incline, and as you get used to the controls and become more confident, gradually work up through short hops a few feet off the ground towards longer and higher flights from further up the slope. Once you have completed a 1 Day taster and you wish to continue to Club Pilot you need to join the BHPA as a annual member which costs £128 then pay £170 per day, or book the elementary pilot course, both of which can be found below. |
Tandem Flights £135

Experience the thrill of a big flight off a mountain with an instructor! No prior experience or training is needed apart from a short pre-flight briefing, and once in the air your pilot can offer you the chance to take the controls of the glider and try flying it for yourself. Its the closest thing to flying like a bird.
If you haven't yet decided whether or not paragliding is for you, a tandem flight is a great way to experience free flying first hand. We fly all year round dependant on the weather. |
Elementary Pilot Course £600

The Elementary pilot course is the first part of your training, we teach you from the beginning, introducing you to the equipment, and how it all works. You will learn how to get the paraglider flying above your head whilst your still on the ground (Ground handling). Then you will progress to learning to take off and land correctly, then flights a few feet off the ground in a straight line. When you can safely take off and land we progress to higher flights. After a few days you will have completed the tasks for your Elementary pilot award, then you will do a multi choice exam on the things you have covered on the course. Once you have your EP award you are then ready to progress to Club pilot.

Full training course from beginner to club pilot.
Pay as you go. £170 per day approximately 8 days needed This course is for the complete beginner to club pilot. No need to pay all upfront just pay on the day. First you need to join through us the BHPA as a annual member which is £128 per year. This gives you public liability and skywings magazine every month. Then its just £170 per day and will take approximately 8 days to complete the club pilot training course. Once you have achieved club pilot you can fly at any of the UK paragliding sites and also abroad. Through the training process you may want to purchase your own equipment. We can sell you the perfect combination dependent on your level of flying and what you want to achieve from the sport, whether its going lightweight mountain flying or cross country flying we can find the perfect glider for you. |
Club Pilot Plus

CP Plus is for pilots who are qualified and have their own gear but are low on air time or haven't been out for a while and are rusty. This includes pilots that just need a few pointers to get their confidence back, or who want to extend their skill set and/or take their pilots exam, or for any other reason that's stopping them enjoying their flying.
